Destiny 2’s next season comes with a Witcher collab and a long-awaited in-game LFG

Season of the Wish is looking to end Destiny 2’s seasonal model in style

Destiny 2’s final season, Season of the Wish, is nearly here.

If you haven’t heard that Bungie was wrapping up the game’s season releases, don’t panic. This may be Destiny 2’s final season, but only because Bungie is switching the game to an episodic model once the Final Shape expansion launches on Feb. 27, 2024.

With Season of the Wish’s launch, Bungie is looking to end seasons in style. In addition to dealing with the 15th Wish (a story beat left dangling more than five years ago), Guardians can get their hands on some beautiful Witcher-themed armor, an in-game LFG, and some long-awaited Stasis upgrades. Here’s a breakdown of the Season of the Wish details Bungie revealed in its Wednesday blog.

Before we get into any of the big changes to Destiny 2 coming in Season of the Wish, it’s important to address the announcement everyone actually cares about: the super hot Witcher armor sets (seen above).

Each class’ armor set takes inspiration from Geralt of Rivia’s usual garb — each with their own wolf pendant and double swords on their back. It looks like there's also a Witcher-inspired Ghost shell and ship. Bungie hasn’t revealed a price yet, but these collaborations are typically very expensive. The other collaborative armor sets (Fortnite, Sony first-party games, and Assassin’s Creed) all run 2,000 Silver per class. That’s $20 in real money, or $60 if you want all three classes.

In other news, the long-awaited in-game group finder is finally coming to Destiny 2 in Season of the Wish, albeit not exactly when players thought. Bungie announced on Wednesday that the LFG system will initially release into a beta during Season of the Wish, and that comes with some limitations.

The first testing period for the LFG will be on Nov. 30, and will only be available for raids. It appears that, contrary to the original plan, the group finder will not be available for the new dungeon’s release on Dec. 1.

Still, Bungie is trying to remain flexible with the beta. Assuming all goes well on the 30th, the full beta experience will roll out in December. Bungie plans to accelerate or delay the LFG based on how the test goes, and is now looking to fully launch the feature in January.

In Season of the Wish — and again in the upcoming Final Shape update — Bungie is looking to tune Stasis to bring it back in line with the other powers in the game. For Season of the Wish, that means touching most of the abilities to make them more reliable, and altering the Fragments so they’re less punishing on stats.

As far as the future is concerned, Bungie teased a new Stasis keyword called “Frost Armor,” which is designed to help keep players safe while running Stasis — a major problem with the power set’s current iteration.

The last thing worth mentioning here is that Bungie is nerfing both Ward of Dawn and Well of Radiance, increasing the support Supers’ cooldown times by about 40 seconds each. This nerf also comes with a threatening message regarding both Supers, which Bungie has larger rework plans for sometime in the future. The post specifically calls out Well of Radiance as a problem child in Destiny that allows players to be far too safe in otherwise dangerous situations.

All of these changes and additions will come to Destiny 2 during Season of the Wish, which hits live servers on Nov. 28.
